Thanks for the kind words.

I agree Dr. Jacobs sees continued competition from other "vertical" manufacturers like NOK although IMHO they present less of a threat than companies like INTC and TXN where semiconductor manufacturing is a core competency and they can spread costs over a wider base. As I assess the competitive environment, I'm unsure how successful QCOM will continue to be in translating their IPR into chip manufacturing advantage and would appreciate any insights from this thread.

Additionally, I could benefit from some real world insight on the current state of WCDMA development. Based on my experience, the concept of a field trial is often employed as a tactic to freeze customers from moving to the competition and it's not uncommon for companies to claim field trials of technology they can barely make work (and can never be made to work) much less in a form that is cost effective or meets real world requirements. Does this group have any way of following and assessing the real world results of various WCDMA field trials?
