If Wendt isn't worried about Conseco filing bankruptcy, why did he insist on receiving his compensation upfront?

Instead of getting $45m upfront, why not receive $9m for each year of the contract?

Wendt knows that executory contracts aren't worth squat in bankruptcy court, so he wanted the check to clear before he did anything.
