Yes, Qualcomm will receive the same royalties for either standard....and I'm not too worried about the x-licensing aspect of it. However, I take it from your post that you believe that Qualcomm will have similair marketshare in both W-CDMA and CDMA2000.....I find this hard to believe. It looks like Qualcomm's stranglehold on the CDMA2000 ASIC market is going to be maintained....but they havent announced a single prospective customer for their W-CDMA ASIC. OTOH, TI is working with Nokia, Ericsson and Sony.

My assumption is that their is some value to the various trials going on around the world. Note that Qualcomm's HDR trials began a full two years before the roll-out will occurr. OTOH, they are missing whatever data could be gained from the current W-CDMA trials.
