So true, I sensed when I met George W a few months ago that he had a intuitive knowledge of this. Great leaders nurture a trusting atmosphere in order to develop followship from others. It's the difference between enrollment and compliance. Far too many people in positions of authority confuse "compliance" with "enrollment". Motivating someone is about creating an atmosphere upon which intrinsic motivation becomes possible. In the end it's an internal decision, not an external act. People have a choice, and in an age of street smart savvy young people with more opportunities then ever, they choose with their feet. Michael
