I think you forgot(and I neglected) to add a nominal $20 per month for the ISP. The idea that DSL rates will fall is definitely in order though. I think that the idea here is to give the consumer something that they can install w/o help(the starter kit), plus have a PC w/o the headache of figuring out which one to purchase. This is probably going to be popular as many don't even want to deal with the headaches of choosing a machine.

Look at how many go with AOL despite such inferior service. The idea is that the SBC plan is simple. The vast majority of people will pay for that.

The real question in my mind is how powerful is the PC and is Prodigy offering decent service. Another question is does this include your local phone service charge. I believe that the $40 per month for DSL includes that but I may be mistaken.
