If we taught something as simple as the value of friendship in school we could probably wipe out the counseling profession.

Do you really think that the value of friendship is something that schools can teach?

The schools and teachers can't change the fact that families move more often today than ever before, jerking their children around the landscape and making it difficult for them to form lasting bonds. The schools can't change the fact that too many parents haven't got the time to deal with problems that shouldn't need drugs. The schools and teachers can't change the fact that America's favorite babysitter is the TV. And on, and on.

All they can do is try to pick up the pieces, and take the blame when they fail, as they usually will.
