A case of reverse imitation being the greatest form of flattery? Guess bullying and (true to form) trying to vilify DK by rallying a bunch of similarly nasty people against his work didn't pan out. In the end it seems it was all nothing but sound and fury signifying nothing, culminating in a classic case of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

Why will DK's summaries continue to be in demand? Simple -- Brinker's tendency to spin his message, his me-against-the-world, I-can-do-no-wrong attitude will always make his sponsored summaries suspect. Aside from DK's insightful, humorous and entertaining "ECs," he brings OBJECTIVITY and INDEPENDENCE to the table (as much as anyone could) in that he is at once a follower of Brinker's recommendations AND able to rise above his own personal vested interest (obviously has a strong enough mind to avoid the Svengali-like hold others appear susceptible to) to voice the occasional independent criticism. In short:

Insight
Humor
Entertainment
Objectivity
Independence

...are his selling points. The fact that he is "in the camp" is key as well -- if all he did was point out how wrong Brinker is all the time (hate it when people do that ;)) he would only make his core base -- those who ARE following Brinker's advice -- feel bad.

But, the big differentiation is the objectivity and independence. How long will it be before some draw comparisons to "missing pieces" and "missing posts?"
