Jon, I would like to believe that there is a level playing field and "tactics" are available to anyone. One "tactic" I have watched lately is the showing of a certain bid or ask on the screen while behind the scene the MM is cleaning out bids or asks - orders not available to you or me! I have seen this on multiple occasions by monitoring and comparing Island Book orders to Real Time Quotes. Using your poker game metaphor, this is like showing you a Five Card, then replacing it with an Ace... In my mind, that doesn't make the MM smarter, just crooked. If you think the deliberate misdirections are "smart" for cheating unsuspecting investors, I feel sorry for you. No matter how smart I get, I just can't justify being like that. Good trading to you!
