Ancor to Provide Switches for HP’s SAN Solution
Ancor’s SANbox™ Provides Key Features for Open SAN Environments
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MINNEAPOLIS, JULY 11, 2000 – Ancor Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCR) announced today that it has signed an OEM agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company to provide SANbox 8- and 16-port switches for HP’s enhanced next-generation enterprise storage portfolio, announced today.

Ancor’s SANbox Fibre Channel switch product line, the broadest switch offering in the industry, will provide HP with high-speed storage-area networking (SAN) connections to servers and storage devices on a variety of hardware and operating system platforms.

“With HP’s expanded Open SAN initiative, customers can easily consolidate and manage their enterprise storage, even as data volumes grow explosively,” said Mike Matson, general manager of HP’s Storage Organization. “That includes the ability to easily integrate legacy storage equipment while continuing to embrace the latest storage networking technologies. Ancor’s SANbox switch makes that integration easy by bringing legacy HP servers onto full-fabric SANs and making it simple to manage consolidated storage.”

HP began shipping Ancor’s SANbox on July 1.

“HP’s objective of delivering multi-platform storage solutions that are scalable, efficient, and 100-percent available is consistent with Ancor’s focus on meeting these same enterprise needs,” said Ken Hendrickson, Ancor’s CEO. “That’s why we provide customers with the ability to grow large fabrics without compromising performance or reliability. And it’s also why we share HP’s dedication to vendor interoperability.”

Ancor switches support the FC-SW-2 standard for switch-to-switch interoperability, a common, open protocol agreed upon by the leading Fibre Channel switch vendors.
