MB, precisely the experience i had in the capital of crime, Johannesburg. as soon as i was armed, the muggers ceased and desisted magically, in spite of the gun being concealed. it seems they can indeed smell the potential for trouble. of course i can only speak for human predators...the African wildlife tends to stay clear of the city...excepting a panicked ostrich i once saw running down Joubert Street on a Monday morning. -g-
