Charley; I agree that Bush is clearly to be preferred over Gore...it is not clear to me that votes "pried" away from the Libertarian Party will go to Bush....I have been attracted in each of the last few national elections to the Libertarian principle of individual responsibility and reduced government in daily lives........but I quickly am revulsed by the liberal stands on recreational drugs and abortion...I would think that anyone who ascribed to all the Libertarian platform would be more likely to vote Gore...

I listened to the nominee at the Libertarian convention (and also read his comments later).....he seems to feel that legalizing street drugs is going to be the defining issue that will raise the membership of the Libertarians...I guess I can see where that issue might win some over...but in my opinion, it relegates that party to a permanent small minority status.....I cannot conceive of that issue ever winning a majority of American voters.
