still the master of the understatement, I see.

I would think that the real key to getting back on line is figuring out how to tweak their digital dynamite plan. Once they figure it out, this has gotta be a solution to their high costs per sub, since they can record the boxes as assets on their balance sheet and just depreciate them, instead of giving them away.

For now, however, it's hard to make heads or tails of their offer. Take a look at this logjam from Sky Report:

EchoStar Sparks Up Digital Dynamite

EchoStar on Monday announced its "Digital Dynamite" plans, detailing four new ways for consumers to get DISH Network satellite television without purchasing any equipment.

The promotion runs through Oct. 31, 2000, with a one-time set-up fee of $99, which includes a standard professional installation and the first month's payment.

"DISH Network Digital Dynamite Home Plans make it easy for families to get a complete satellite TV system for more than one room in the home by eliminating the need for customers to purchase satellite television equipment," said Mary Peterson, vice president of Marketing at DISH Network. "These Digital Dynamite plans offer simple solutions for new DISH Network customers to get a multiroom satellite TV system and ensure customer satisfaction by providing professional installation and in-home service."

DISH Network's Digital Dynamite plans range from $34.99 to $49.99 a month based on a one-year commitment. All plans receive an in-home service plan and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

The Digital Dynamite 100 Plan comes with a model 3822 satellite TV system and America's Top 100 CD programming package; The Digital Dynamite 100 Home Plan comes with two model 3822 receivers, with a DISH 500 satellite dish antenna, and a model 2700 satellite TV receiver, plus the America's Top 100 CD programming package; The Digital Dynamite 150 Plan includes a model 4922 digital satellite TV system, featuring a new interactive weather channel, upgraded on-screen program guide, VCR timers, Dolby Digital optical output, DISH 500 satellite dish antenna, plus the America's Top 150 programming package. The Digital Dynamite 150 Home Plan includes a model 4922 system and a model 2700 receiver, plus the America's Top 150 programming package, and includes a "No Price Increase Guarantee" until May 2003.
