Dave, regarding the massive satellite communications initiative in China to bring education to rural areas, you asked: "Have you heard of anything like this going on in the US of A?" Speaking of banner ads, here's an interesting page I came across, thanks to Steve T. who brought this most unusual web site (see below) to my attention. It's a little rough in spots <cough>, as the url itself, demonstrates. But it speaks a ton of horse sense amidst the carnage it reveals.
