A Lucent thread!! Terrific!! I don't think I've ever posted on an individual thread before. May I rant? No -- too bad. Don't want to hear it, push the next button.
I need to blow off a little steam and here's an LU thread. If I had a shrink, I'm sure he'd agree (yes he, I wouldn't go to a woman).
As the head man at a small concern (55 employees) let me share with you my new LU telephone system.
Three months ago we solicited bids for one of our offices that needed 25 phones. I made the final decision to go with the Lucent 4424D+. It was installed 3 weeks ago. My staff is beyond pissed. Want to talk about a piece of crap that's now my piece of crap? This baby's all mine. No one else is coming within a 100 miles of this jewel.
Cost: Approximately $42,000 installed. Training: Fast, incompatent and incomplete. Users Guide: I must be in a 5th world company. This I can not freaking believe. I have a Users Guide for the 4406D+, 4412D+, 4424D+ and 4424LD+. Now, my staff and I start trying to program the simple things (auto dialing, ring,etc.) because the training was so poor. It doesn't work. We all follow the instructions to a tee, and it don't work.
I demand an explanation. The rep admits the books don't work ---- but, I (we) can call her anytime and she will explain what we need to do. You gotta be kidding me. What the hell was I thinking when I approved this system? What the hell kind a a company would put out User Guides that they know don't work! Where am I?? I can't be in America. Is this really the kind of crap we're putting out in the world?
Voice Mail: I got time to read a book!! Efficient means fast and well for my staff. This system is slow and not well. I'll stop here. I could go on and on.
This capital improvement purchase has me more pissed and disgusted with American enterprise than anything to date. I'm embarrassed for this company. I'm ashamed for them. I really thought I was getting the best. Is it the best in America? We better slap ourselves silly and decide to put out the best systems (products, cars, you name it) money can buy or our kids are going to get their asses handed to them by other countries.
There. I feel better. I'm going to have my double gin and tonic, fill in some hand charts, see what looks good for trading, do anything to put off going to bed, ---- because then morning will come ---- and I'll have to get up, go to work, and use my new 4424D+. Yipeeeeeeeee
