McData is deeply entrenched in the data center because of the IBM connection so my guess is that ANCR/Inrange will have to compete as the alternative source initially using price. The recently brokered FC-SW-2 standard for switch-to-switch interoperability makes it easier for Ancor/Inrange to work with the McData's ESCON directors, FICON bridge cards, and ED5000 as well as EMC's Connectrix. Does anyone here have a price list? Right now, CNT's Directors are the most expensive director-class switches in the market followed by Mcdata's ED5000 -- something like $12,000-14,000 a port.
