about the privet hedges, think it could be a soil deficiency if they aren't that well established?

Sort of the same thing happened with me this year, and I just can't figure it out(unless there is a really BIG dog in the neighborhood)-
I have several large Yews around my house which I'm guessing are over 30 years old. Anyhow, this spring, I noticed one with a slight yellow tint to it while cutting the grass. One week later, the needles are all amber, and the shrub is dead. All the rest of them are alive and thriving. Just that one.
