MessageMedia Amends Previous Release
Revises Release Regarding Total Quarterly Estimated Bookings for Messaging and Related Businesses
BOULDER, Colo., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- MessageMedia Inc. (Nasdaq: MESG), the leading provider of strategic messaging solutions and services, amended its press release issued yesterday regarding second quarter growth of its consumer services messaging business. In the release, estimated bookings were incorrectly stated as quarterly revenues.
The second paragraph of the earlier release should read as follows, not as previously stated:
Marketers in the retail/e-tail, travel and entertainment industries have implemented outsourced and customer intelligence solutions for communicating with their customers, generating $5.87 million in estimated bookings in the second quarter of 2000, up from $1.78 million in estimated bookings in the first quarter. These numbers do not include estimated bookings from software licensing and maintenance. With MessageMedia messaging capabilities, clients have reported direct click-through response rates of more than 45%, up to 10 times those of traditional direct mail campaigns.
Additionally, the Company announced that total estimated bookings for outsourced messaging, hosting services and customer intelligence in the second quarter was $10.2 million, up from $6.3 million in the first quarter 2000. These numbers do not include bookings from software licensing and maintenance.
Bookings are forward-looking estimates made by MessageMedia of the next twelve months of potential revenue from contracts signed during the quarter. However, MessageMedia's contracts with customers are based on actual usage and the revenue that may ultimately be recognized under these contracts cannot be assured. Investors should not rely upon these estimates as an indicator of potential future operating results.
FOR THE RECORD: MESG has pulled this stunt before; ie, saying revenues when they meant bookings #reply-12683274 |
