As most of you already know, Geac is releasing its year end results at 4 p.m. today. It will be holding an analysts live conference at 8 am tomorrow. After the conference, you can listen to it by dialing the number below and providing the password:

The telephone numbers to listen to the call after it is completed (Instant Replay) are (416) 695-5800 or (800) 408-3053. The Passcode for the Instant Replay is 507448. The Instant Replay will be available until midnight, July 20, 2000.

Over the past month, the stock price has dropped from $20 range to current $13. Part of this drop is due to the weakening of the whole ERP software sector (Peoplesoft, GIB, etc). The question remains whether there is a significant unpleasant surprise in the Q4 report that some market players already know about, and have been dumping the stock ahead of the numbers. We shall see today after 4 p.m, and hear the questions asked tomorrow in the taped conference call. My personal guess is that there is no unpleasant surprise in the report, and that the stock's weakening was due to softness in the sector, an analyst downgrade previously, and short term traders. My guess is that after the release of the report, the stock will start going up as the Company shows more positive results.

As far as dumpthelackies go, I would suggest all here to continue to ignore the pathetic fellow. As you can see from his profile, he joined SI on Feb/00 and since then has only posted on this thread with his banner call to dump Geac's CEO. Obviously, the poor guy must have been fired from the company and this is his way of getting even. I checked Bullboard, and it appears he is also posting there (under numerous aliases) with the same sad chant.

p.s. if you've not listen in to a conference call before, take it from me, it is worth the while. Listen in between the lines to what questions are being asked and how management responds to them. You can profit from reading the nuances and tones to the questions and answers.
