Bloomberg was founded by a former Salomon Brothers partner (Michael Bloomberg) in 1981 (who either quit or was forced out right after the Phillips Brothers (PhiBro) buyout of Salomon). The company is based in New York City. (Michael Bloomberg is a HUGE benefactor of non-profits such as Johns Hopkins. He has said that he is so wealthy that he might as well just give away any money he has (above some certain number)). (He also is apparently such a sweet guy that he calls and talks to his Mom every day on the phone). Jon.
