ALR Technologies Inc. Announces Launch of Medication Reminder Products for the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Market
New Products Designed To Increase Pet Owner Compliance
BELLINGHAM, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2000-- ALR Technologies Inc. (``ALR Tech''), today announced the launch of a new line of medication reminder products for the veterinary pharmaceutical market. The products, which utilize microchip technology, are designed to increase pet owner compliance in the administration of monthly and daily medications and will be marketed under the brand name ``ALRT (TM)''.
ALR Tech reports that an estimated 16 million dog owning households in the U.S. purchase monthly medications to prevent heartworm infection, and nearly 15 million dog owners and five million cat owners purchase monthly flea control products. Further reports indicate that a large number of pet owners purchase daily administered medications for pet aliments such as arthritis, congestive heart failure and separation anxiety.
``Pet owners often worry about forgetting to give their pet the medications that keep them healthy,'' said Stan Cruitt, President of ALR Technologies, Inc. ``Our products will help remove that worry.''
To ensure quality manufacturing at reasonable prices, ALR Tech has entered into a Letter of Intent with Tandy Radio Shack Ltd., a Division of RadioShack Corporation (``Radio Shack''), to provide manufacturing support for ALR Tech's products. Based on the designs provided by ALR Tech, RadioShack will manufacture the products on a committed delivery schedule.
ALR Tech is also entering into a distribution agreement with National Logistics Services (``NLS''), one of the premier distributors of animal health care products in the U.S. NLS distributes over $100 million worth of veterinary products annually to 65% of U.S. veterinary clinics.

In addition to the NLS partnership, Mr. Cruitt reports that ALR Tech is negotiating with other distributors to provide coverage in all areas of the US and Canada -- as well as the major markets of Europe and Australia.
