nbfm: You forgot HDR.

Even though that is the essence of my point, I will add a bit here so that it may be worth posting. Smile.

The key to Qualcomm's success in the next 2 to 3 years is data. For which read, mobile wireless access to the internet/intranets. The key to that is HDR or its kissin' cousin 1xEV (HDR with bells and whistles).

No one, repeat no one has anything which comes even close using GSM. So the opportunity is there for GSM operators to go with nonsense upgrades such as GPRS (which they probably will since so far advanced) and EDGE (which they probably will not since it is practically absurd on its face) or an HDR overlay.

Will be most interesting to watch.

IMO an HDR overlay in GSMland is a real possibility - outside Fortress Europa of course where despite "free trade" and WTO, the US Gov't yawns about CDMA (and HDR?) being frozen out.

Best.
