Chaz, I have hedged my opinion by using the words "it seems". This view is based on recent developments and IJ statements regarding the future of CDMA.

My investment in QCOM is to make money (and so far: thank you qcom - too bad TKSQCOM license plate has been taken). I will not object if there will more money for QCOM should WCDMA become the predominant standard with CDMA2000 a distant second. Maybe some purists insist on CDMA2000 since it has the best technology. Either way it is CDMA and IJ has repeatedly assured the investment community that QCOM will get the same royalty. And since WCDMA is way behind CDMA2000 for implementation, the expected burst in royalty stream will just have to wait until then.

And that my friend, is the crux for my preference of selling near term puts as opposed to buying calls.

As Deng Tsiopeng (sp?) said: it does not matter what the color of the cat, as long as it can catch mice. And here: as long as CDMA, whatever mode it will be.
