I think we can say with some certainty that the creation story recounted in the bible is totally inconsistent with any available evidence. I can't agree. I don't hold any particular brief for creationism, but I also don't see total inconsistency, understanding that we are reading a Bible that has been transcribed and translated multiple times, so IMO we have to be careful not to take any particular English translation as literally true.
