That was on the front page, the three presidentes article ... it was from the priísta point of view, and expressed it negatively, things like the forced solidarity on Fobaproa etc ... there is an extremely positive side as well - Zedillo set up the IFE as an independent nonpartisan body ... before that they used to count the votes in Los Pinos ... 'they' being the PRI, of course ... also he cut the direct porkbarrel stuff a lot ... did you know that to be a bootblack in el DF you used to have to be a member of the PRI? ... and that for three days annually there were no bootblacks on the street? - that's because they were all at the PRI rally, they had to attend to get their permisos stamped.
Zedillo deserves considerable credit ... and honour, imho ... that article is still there - proceso.com.mx - but it won't load right ... i've been having computer trouble too ... no time to figure out what it is ... not that i personally could in a million years, lol
Policy.com has some interesting pieces - policy.com ... this is what makes it on-topic to this thread, imho - there will be an influence on Cuba, to some degree ... the question they pose is very relevant imho - México, Argentina, Chile going one way, and Venezuela, Perú, Colombia going the other ... at the moment.
Mojarro i have heard of but never heard ... haven't seen all your links yet, no time ... never thought of looking for la caricatura on the net ... of course, what a perfect medium ... later ... cheers |
