Very well put for the most part. You use the word faith sometimes where I would use the word practice. I can have absolute faith by sitting in a closet and believing in eternal truth and justice. I don't see the dark side in that, at all. However, you brought up daughters and I have three. I do believe that faith is strengthened through prayer. So it bothers me that in our culture people are offended by the sight or sound of another person praying in public. Why, well I suspect that since it doesn't validate the world view of the non-believers, it threatens it. We don't want to impose anything on others but we want to be allowed to exercise our faith 24 hours a day. What do you do if you want your daughters to feel comfortable with praying during the day? We have a word, "Hassinat." It means the benefits you will receive from doing a good deed. We know that if you do something called for in the religion but you commit injustice in the process you lose Hassinat. Consequently we know to tread very lightly in these touchy issues.
