In poker, if you watch an opposing player very carefully, sometimes they signal whether they are holding a good hand or not. Card players call that a tell. With options, if the long term calls are expensive, that is often a tell that the market expects the stock to rise strongly in the long term. Thus expensive-looking options are often the best buy.
