Ericsson to make packet-switching systems in China By Sunray Liu EE Times 07/12/00 BEIJING — Cell phone maker Ericsson plans to produce a new packet-switching system in China after it is adopted by Chinese telecommunications carriers, a move that is expected soon. Ericsson (Stockholm, Sweden) has reported a growing list of orders for its data-enabled, multi-service network technology, which lets network operators migrate from circuit-switched networks to wireline networks based on asynchronous transfer mode and Internet Protocol (IP) packet-switching technologies. The Engine system uses Ericsson's AXE switching system and a scalable AXD 301 ATM switch with media gateways and management applications.
