Mot beat estimates by $.01. First Call had $.22; but this is not that important since they already stated they'd report less than $.69 pre split. this means they report $.69 pre split. more interesting is their PC chip sales (semi products) rose 27% per annum which is a comparative strong showing for them. This is nearing Intel's rate. overall, including handsets, this remains a heck of a lot better than what they were doing last year and the year before. it's all relatve; especially if you bought above $60

the sell off is coming from the giddy crowd. it rose $2 today and reports in line with expectations. more importantly to MOT's future is how they will play out the CDMA handset market for 3g. they had the chance to own the world with TDMA/GSM in the early 90s but got greedy and failed. they're supposedly smarter now (doing deals as opposed to going it alone).
