Leland, what about if you your self would research when GSM
started to use power control??

Seems you forgot that both AMPS and GSM as well as
all mobile units, as well as the lack of perfect
limiting of bandwidth, as well as plain dynamics
of recieve stages are some very good reasons for power
control.
