Wrong. All rice is rice,just as all tables are tables, all chairs are chairs and all water is water. As to flavor: each to their own taste, except for Uncle Ben. That should be thrown in the garbage with the left overs.

I like the jasmine variety the most, the kind grown by the Thai and Vietnamese. It is now exported around the world. You'll know it when you taste it. As to basmati rice; it's not too popular with people who eat rice as the staple of their diet and who know their rice. Any rice monger will quickly point out the advantages and disadvantages of each variety and will not often stock it.
