Your kidding. We have perpetual pot of rice, available. coastal Peruvians like my wife, prefer it to the potatoes of the highlands or even Yuca. She would agree that having any kind of rice is very important but difficult to imagine that anyone really thinks basmati is not one of the best. Not just flavor but texture. Sticky rice is called sticky rice for a reason and yes it does make some dishes you can't make with non sticky rice.

We used to buy Vietnamese rice and it was fine. Not sure if it was jasmine rice or not. But the U.S. so called long grain rice I bought 25 lbs. of sucks.
