Thanks, interesting patent application. One of the most interesting thing is the attempt to blur protein C and activated protein C. They are used as if they were "identical". It is as if one would call both a piece of raw flesh and a New York steak a meal. APC is an anticoagulant, protein C is not.
I still don't see the invention (discovery) in this application. Combination of medical modalities aimed at different pathogenic factors in a complex syndrome is a necessary and obvious medical routine. Next time LLY might try to patent (a)PC plus antibiotics, (a)PC plus saline infusion, APC plus oxygen, APC plus bed rest, APC plus Tylenol, or APC plus medical care. These are all original combinations.
