But it got a whole bunch of us into Q last April, so we're sold on it.

I also got into QCOM in April 99, thanks to an interview with Frank Jennings in Barron's. But then I got out of the stock earlier this year. Part of what got me out was listening to some smart people who were very skeptical of the model of a QCOM-cum-gorilla and prospects for cdma2000, among other things. I'm very glad I listened to them.

I think it's important to ask: When does a "system" (after all, gorilla gaming purports to be a "system") get you out of a stock? Maybe there is no perfect system and people need to make gut calls based on what is going on in the real world. Maybe metaphors about gorillas and monkeys and kings and serfs can kind blind us to certain realities, even as they may provide a useful filter for a complex world. People that make "controlled use" of such metaphors and tools may do well, but it seems many see them as a panacea. A look at all the whiners on the G&K thread shows that the gorilla game in theory is not the same as the gorilla game in practice. Kind of like communism in that respect.
