Source: Bloomberg News
Dulles, Virginia, July 13 (Bloomberg) -- America Online Inc. today is expected to announce that it will deploy
RealNetworks Inc. software throughout its network in what may be the largest deployment yet of multimedia
software on the Internet, Dow Jones Newswires reported. While AOL acknowledged that it would pay
RealNetworks for its software, neither company would say how much and people familiar with the situation
estimated that the transaction would be valued at $20 million to $29 million. As part of the agreement, AOL will
bundle RealNetworks' RealPlayer software with Web browser software distributed by Netscape, now a unit of
AOL, Dow Jones said.
