I once took an 11-day white-water trip from Vancouver, up the Straights of Georgia, over Mt. Whittington, down the Chilcotin and Fraser Rivers to Lillooet, and from there by small train to the city, arriving just after sundown. For hours I stood at the opened door of the baggage car watching the sky deepen over the Cascades and finally across the bay, an experience no doubt similar to the magic you experienced approaching the city at sunrise. I'll make sure I'm up. Cheers! Pat
