I have never been subject to any kind of scrutiny, and, in any case, most audits would be unnecessary if deductions were eliminated. The majority of people submit the short form, and are left alone. If progressivity is odious (and again, there is a question about whether or not it is, in principle), the flat tax would cure it, and still remain an income tax.........
