Mike, Perhaps out of favor is the wrong term. There does seem to be some "frustration" by investors with the length of time it is taking to determine what 3g will look like (WCDMA, CDMA, GSM...)and how long it will take to deploy. Yes wireless was/is the rage and everyone wants infinite bandwidth, one their cell phone, pda,lap top and they want it now. Many bits and pieces of the technology seem to be their now (at least for 300+ kps data rates) but standardization, the necessary overhaul of existing wireless nets and the build out of new networks all stand in the way. I want comment on valuations again except that when I wrote that I felt Qcom and Mot looked cheap. It may be interesting to explore not just the technologiies veying for standardization, but the implicit timing and cost of the build out. I would love to find the exact quote again, but one article suggested that the current wireless infrastructure was a "mess" and mostly irrelivant for the higher speed data transmission technologies being envisioned. Thats for PC devices. For fixed wireless I think the jury is still out on who has tested and deployment read Point-MultiPoint equipement. I appreciate all the info you post over time here and of Frank's thread.

Steve.
