Weed Eater Trimmers Receive California Certification for Emission Standards; Test One of Toughest in the Nation
AUGUSTA, Ga., Jul 13, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The California Air Resources
Board (CARB) has certified the new two-cycle, 25 cc low emissions engines used
in Weed Eater brand gasoline-powered trimmers recognizing that the Weed Eater
engines have passed the rigorous CARB tests for air quality emissions.
During the 50 hours of testing, the 25 cc engine with a three-way catalytic
converter showed no loss of power, and exhaust emissions were lower than
previous models by more than 75 percent.
CARB Certification allows consumers to use the products with full confidence
that they have the lowest possible air emissions available. CARB tests for
emissions in such categories as hydrocarbons plus oxides of nitrogen, carbon
monoxide and particulate matter.
"Our new line with this environmentally friendly engine will be available before
the end of the year," said Lennie Rhoades, product manager for the Weed Eater
and Poulan brands. "CARB certification is testament to the high degree of
technical know-how that has gone into this new line. Not only will it
effectively cut weeds and brush, but it also protects the environment."
