I couldn't agree more with your thoughts related to property taxes.

Kicking people out of their home and off their property because they failed to pay an ever rising rate of taxation, was something I cannot imagine envisioned by the founding fathers. And what's worse is many people voting for levy's and higher property taxes, don't even own property.

Consumption tax makes the most sense. And it follows a tried and true system "the KISS principle".

Additionally, if we truly want to reduce the influence of special interest groups. Pass a simple across the board consumption tax. And limit the level to 20% by forcing the government to balance the books with a "balanced budget amendment" unless we're in a state of national emergency.
