Gee, I trust people all over the place. Absolutely? No, people make mistakes or succumb to temptation. But by and large, and not just my wife. I trust the people who sell me things in the stores; I trust the restaurants I go to; I trust the mapmakers of road maps when I am on a trip; I trust the hotels at which I make reservations to have me listed, at the price settled, and to give me decent service. And not just about trivial matters. I have entrusted my child to babysitters and teachers and chaperones; I entrust myself and my family to planes, trains, and cabbies; I entrust my bills to the post office, and count on the bank to honor my checks. I have no idea how one would get through life without trusting people!
