PALO ALTO, Calif. -- In an effort to bring its wireless communications products to market faster, Silicon Wave Inc. has formed a strategic alliance with Agilent Technologies Inc.--the spin-off company from Hewlett-Packard Co. here.

Under the deal, Agilent will provide Bluetooth test solutions for Silicon Wave's Odyssey Bluetooth systems-on-chip.

Agilent's worldwide semiconductor contract manufacturing program will serve as a bridge to bring Silicon Wave's designs into high-volume manufacturing while meeting time and cost objectives, said John Scruggs, senior vice-president at Agilent's Automated Test Group.

Silicon Wave's Odyssey SiW1501 Radio Modem IC combines all Bluetooth radio transceiver, synthesizer and modem functions into a 7-mm-by-7-mm package. The chip uses a 2.4-GHz synthesizer for both transmit and receive functions, with the VCO and resonator fully integrated.
