The problem is that "down the road" may not be too far off, and that the price of a stock, as you well know, is more affected by perception than reality. If the perception is that direct write is going to be the way to go, even if the time table is unclear, then the price of ETEC, as well as the price of all those other companies you mentioned, will stagnate or drop. Irrespective of present earnings.
