Bunch of articles out today about Tandem (on Yahoo's quote page). One of the most promising I think is the one about Tandem using Windows NT and clustering 64 Intel microprocessors. There is a big article in the lastest issues of Fortune (has an online version) about Microsoft's main focus being on NT. One of the biggest stumbling blocks mentioned was that: "Sun's top Unix machines run 64 processors simultaneously - enough computing power to handle many large-scale corporate tasks. NT currently can't effectively manage a server with more than eight processors."

Tandem's ServeNet techonology made it possible for NT to take the giant step up in performance, matching Sun's top systems. I think this makes things very interesting for Tandem. Microsoft's Gates has said that NT is his firms future. Tandem's ability to take it to true enterprise performance could spark lots of interest from Gates. All this when Tandem has just come out and said that it is a "software" company.

Things are going to get very interesting.
