Does the saw say that one should bail entirely from the market when it falls for oil stocks?

It's difficult to believe both in the wonders of the new economy and at the same time be bullish on commodities. Those two ideas can't coexist for very long. A rising price of oil and other commodities refutes the idea that the creation of fiat can, through productivity gains, outrun the limitations placed on an economy by the restraints of raw materials.

When investors sees frailty in fiat, either because of a surging price of one of the key commodities or a stock market debacle, then a shift into hard assets begins. Oil is the first signal that this shift could occur.
