So this company's Perl processes quotes differently if the script comes from the command line. Big deal. Every script I've ever seen used is in a file, because it's more than 1 line long. Put your unix script from above into a file and it's fine on Win32. If you're so concerned, why don't you file a bug with ActiveState?
