Loren and our computer experts who also know what constitutes pirating patented CPU architecture: RE: "Thanks for posting those patent numbers. I've been looking for those ever since waking to find my #1 holding was suing my #2 holding".

The 10 patents DEC is claiming Intel infringed upon, at least what you posted here, are nothing but general descriptions about how various aspects of CPU activity can be speeded up. However, I'm sure that block diagrams and logic diagrams go with the patents. The question that has been posed, but not answered, that I've seen here, is how could DEC find out what's inside the Pentium Pro from an architecture and logic design point of view, and determine it uses these 10 methods? You certainly couldn't tell from the I/O operations of the chip. Next idea, can you go backward from analyzing the interconnect of 6,000,000 transistors and create logic diagrams? Also, unless Intel copied the logic gate for gate, how can DEC say that Intel is stealing the designs. Who's paying IBM for cache, pipeline, virtual memory, etc., etc., anymore?

Finally, did you notice the tenth one is about RISC CPU's? Last I looked, the Pentiums were all CISC.

Hogwash???
