ok so you've found some discrepancies and proven 'something.' i've written several-page perl scripts, in part using examples from o'reilly's (platform agnostic) perl cookbook and have found no problems with the activestate engine. in any case i don't understand why you feel it is your right to insult others at every step of the way, however. oh you're not reading this are you? andy
