Jmac, remember they only got the suit paper from DEC LATE yetserday,
I believe, which only gave them roughly 24 hours to review them.
They were completely blinsided, apparently, so literally they
have only had 24 hours to respond. And they don't want to be frivilous in what they say, so the response is short. Not much time to put together a counter suit...yet.

I think this is just the 1st step, as per "preliminary analysis" in
the article. I would expect a possible countersuit by Intel, followed
by behind-the-scenes negotiations. Neither DEC/INTEL wants to go
to court. Apparently, the mkt. liked this response as Intel
ended the day at its high. Look for a good opening, at least,
for tomorrow.
