Ian, I like the idea of selling puts on QLT. I have used this strategy a fair bit but never with QLT. I have had a few stocks put to me, but I see these as bargain purchases when I consider the premium and the exercise price.
I called QLT's IR today. They have no idea what prompted the selling. There is nothing new on any front, including litigation.
The stock closed at $59 5/16 ($US). The December 55 PUTs are $8 3/8 ($US). In either eventuality, this put doesn't look bad. I pocket $837.50 (US) per contract if it expires worthless, or I have the stock put to me for $55 less the premium of $8 3/8 ($46 5/8 excluding commissions).
If there is any weakness in the stock tomorrow morning, I intend to take advantage of this dip.
Regards,
Ed
