Rational's e-Development Solution to be Integrated Into Microsoft's Business Internet Solutions Center
First-of-Its-Kind Facility Trains Companies in Developing eBusiness Solutions Based on Microsoft and Rational Internet Technologies
LEXINGTON, Mass., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Rational Software (Nasdaq: RATL - news), the e-development company, today announced that Microsoft Corp. has chosen Rational's e-development solution, for Microsoft's Business Internet Solutions Center, a first-of-its-kind facility providing companies access to the Microsoft people, partners, tools and information they need to develop scalable and reliable eBusiness solutions.
Rational is the only vendor chosen by Microsoft to provide a fully integrated lifecycle development solution for the Waltham, Massachusetts-based facility. As part of the agreement between the two companies, the Business Internet Solutions Center will use Rational Suite, Rational's market-leading development solution for teams, and the Rational Unified Process, a Web-enabled software engineering process that enhances team productivity and delivers software best practices to all team members. In addition, Rational will train Microsoft consultants working in the technical labs on Rational's e-development solution and software development best practices.
``The Microsoft Business Internet Solutions Center helps companies realize the potential of the digital economy by integrating e-business solutions throughout their operations, and Rational's e-development solution further enables the delivery of those reliable, e-business solutions,'' said Peter Boit, vice president of the E-Business Solutions Group at Microsoft. ``Rational is a trusted industry partner able to provide a development solution that tightly integrates with the Microsoft Windows DNA architecture, providing support for every phase of the application development process. The combination of the Microsoft Windows DNA architecture and Rational's e-development solution ultimately means success for solutions center companies looking to build the next big thing on the Internet.''
An important reason Microsoft chose Rational's e-development solution for the Business Internet Solutions Center was Rational's tight product integration with Microsoft Windows DNA, Microsoft's platform for building and deploying interoperable Web applications quickly. This integration is the result of a close strategic relationship between companies that was expanded last July to include Microsoft's adoption of Rational's e-development solution. ``The powerful combination of the Microsoft Windows DNA platform and Rational Suite will enable companies to better address the e-software paradox -- delivering higher-quality application in Internet time,'' said Eric Schurr, senior vice president, Marketing and Suite Products for Rational. ``We are pleased to support Microsoft's Business Internet Solutions Center as the only solution vendor able to offer our joint customers the complete set of integrated lifecycle tools for developing Internet software with speed and quality.''
